Omarchy is exploring what documented evaluation would need before it could recommend desktop hardware.
What Omarchy would test before recommending desktop hardware
Omarchy is exploring what it would take to stand behind a desktop hardware recommendation. A useful standard would need to account for the machine people actually use, maintain, and rely on at their desks.
This work begins with questions, not a list of hardware.
Desktop hardware needs repeatable testing.
- Which parts of a desktop setup need direct, repeatable testing before anyone can make a useful recommendation?
- What should an honest evaluation say about the environments and tradeoffs it observed?
- How can a recommendation remain useful when the person reading it has a different desk, budget, or set of needs?
No desktop product is being announced.
Any future evaluation should be clear about what it observed and what it did not. That is how a recommendation stays useful without turning an exploratory area into a product promise.
